As we were in Vicenza for the jewellery show last week we came across an article telling that "Living Coral" has been announced as the Pantone colour for 2019. "Living Coral" is a pinkish coral hue with a Golden undertone that will for sure conquer all of us. Vibrant yet mellow it is a warm colour full of grace. In jewellery this hue can be found in stones such as moonstone, sapphires and tourmalines. All the lovers of gemstones will appreciate the mix of pink, orange, red and Golden hues combined together for truly intriguing effects. Let me add to all this that we have immediately fallen in love with this colour for one more reason as it perfectly combines with pink gold which is our favourite gold colour.
Live pink and look at the world through golden lens and everything will smile back at you ! See you next month! 😊 As Christmas is approaching and a celebration mood is in the air we thought of saying goodbye with our Advent Calendar. We wish you a joyful, merry, happy Christmas and a prosperous and lucky New Year !!!!!! With Love, see you soon ! from all the BRUSI staff See you next Year!
Icy, cloudy, rough - call them what you will - the truth is diamonds previously dismissed in terms of gemquality status are now making the grade in fine jewellery designs. The question now is: do you know what an icy diamond exactly is? If you are not sure about it then this newsletter is the right one for you! In fact we are here to investigate together. Icy diamonds are basically heavily included diamonds: they contain imperfections that render them more opaque than transparent, gem-quality diamonds. Yet despite these irregularities, they have a certain beauty of their own. The inclusions diffuse the light in a certain way that gives the stones a beautiful frosty glow and moreover each piece is unique and different. Icy or cloudy diamonds are typically rose cut, a flat-bottomed cut with a high crown that was prevalent before the development of the modern, round brilliant cut. It is a perfectly adequate cut for an opaque stone whose main property is not light return. The colours of these diamonds can be found in a range wide enough to include: grey, black, brown, yellow, green, red and all the possible combinations of any of the shades just mentioned.
Here again each stone is different and unique and in this sense the quintessence of exclusivity if you allow me to dare as much. A diamond does not have to be perfectly clear to be breathtaking. Sometimes, it’s the unexpected which really draws us in and the delightfully imperfect nature of organic diamonds has a truly sensual, understated appeal. It was just obvious and predictable that we would fall in LOVE and have them in our collection: Organic diamonds if you think are the perfect soul mates for our Natural Jewels, our idea of “perfection inside imperfections” becoming more alive than ever. Here for you some natural breath-taking jewels created in 18 kt gold with cloudy organic diamonds: unique pieces for somebody looking for exclusivity. Is Jewellery trend forecasting a truly reliable discipline? Maybe not – in fact all the brands just continue producing their jewellery despite all trends and tendencies but don't tell the journalists – so we will simply report of the most-wanted and most- appreciated among our jewels that were exhibited in Vicenza during the last week. One of these successful pieces are for sure our lovely earrings “Baggy-Circle”, in both of the 2 different versions presented to the public: rose' gold and nude-pink flat sapphires or natural white gold with grey flat sapphires. Both versions without black rhodium – to preserve the light emanating from the diamonds – and both satinated for an ultra-chic result. Baggy-Circle are elegant earrings in a perfect size that will suite to any woman. They are chic and not exaggerated, a bit bon-ton but still not completely classic. We were impressed at noticing that so many clients, with a very different taste, age and origin would all choose them as a novelty to present in their shops for Christmas. We cannot but agree with our clients and thank them for the support and precious good comments received. Apart from the version with diamonds only on top there is also another one available with 2 sets of sapphires for a stronger and even more colourful effect.
The earrings in the picture are showing beautiful rouge sapphires and they are in the good company of our iconic Indjo ring. "There's something happening here What it is ain't exactly clear..." [ Buffalo Springfield - For What It's Worth 1967 ] Vicenza is approaching and our BRUSI team is already back to work. Yes! we are indeed already working for the fair: the last pieces need the final polishing procedures, each single piece of jewellery will go through the shooting and pricing and tagging. We are working on the new catalogues, writing down releases for the press and choosing the colours for the new collections. It is a very exciting moment, the moment when the new-borns finally see the light and you can look at them with satisfaction, so proud of the creation that has been generated in the creative process. It is a moment full of energy, of positive energy and everybody is happy and gay and good-willing. This year, like always, we will have some new collections coming out for the Christmas season but we won't reveal too much right now. You will have to come to Vicenza and find out yourself at our booth. So don't miss the event !!!! We will be exposing at the usual place: One of the new lines will be called “New Circles". It's a line - made of rings, earrings and pendants - where gold plays an important role and which will be presented in different versions: polished, satinated, rodiated or in its natural savage beauty.
Only for our newsletter's readers here is a preview of the “New Circles” rings. Enjoy them now and buy a flight to Vicenza so as to be able to see them “alive” over there. Kisses and good Karma to all of you!!! Labradorite is an instantly recognizable stone with a stunning sheen and gorgeous play of colors. Its beautiful color and flashes of light is so spectacular that the Inuit people believed that the stone was the Northern Lights captured in the rocks. It was originally discovered in Labrador, Canada, from where it received its name (and just for the record, it has no connection to the dog breed Labrador). However, today, Madagascar is the most abundant source of labradorites. Some other regions where labradorite is mined are Norway, Finland, Russia, Sri Lanka, and Australia. Labradorite has a dark body tone but it is the iridescence that gives the stone its dynamic, lively nature. The reason a labradorite displays its flashes of color is due to the structure of its formation: labradorite forms in layers of rock and when light is diffracted from these layers, the colors shine through. Common colors of labradorite are blue and brown, sometimes but more rarely orange. The term given to the distinct iridescence of high quality labradorite gemstones is “labradorescence”. Most interestingly, the colors displayed by a labradorite are not actually present in the stone, as in most other colored gemstones. Instead, it is the effect of light reacting with the imperfections within the mineral. The gemstone is truly and surprisingly beautiful so I could not refrain myself from buying some pieces and make marvellous jewels out of them. They will be presented in the September edition of Vicenza fair but here you can have a preview. These earrings are in 18 kt white natural gold, softly brushed, set with grey diamonds and displaying a pair of wonderful labradorites. The colour is a mix of blue and grey and the game of lights is giving an impression of something moving and alive. And last a few hints to ensure that your labradorite is shining and lustrous through the years.
Regular cleaning is recommended, avoid using ultrasonic or steam cleaners.Instead, use soap and warm water with a soft brush to wash the stone. Once washed, rinse labradorite jewelry in water and dry it thoroughly. Finally wrap in a cotton or velvet cloth and store separately. This way labradorite jewels will accompany you along the years never losing their most peculiar and distinctive features and their famous labradorescence. Pink is a lovely colour indeed and you can find it in such a wide variety of different shades that for sure one of them will meet your aesthetic expectations. Not only baby-pink but rather coral pink, salmon pink, rosewood pink, dogwood pink, fuchsia, amaranth, cerise, rosebud pink, magenta, orchid and the wonderful, and simply irresistible “must” of the season , the “Nudes”. Remember: sometimes red is just too much and white isn’t quite right. Finding a space in between, pink is more than just pretty — it can, by turns, be demure, fresh, light or moody. Pink gemstones look fantastic set in any metal and in any style: sophisticated when combined to white gold, they look pleasantly warm when matching the pink gold tones. The list of pink gemstones is surprisingly long but the most popular are: diamonds, sapphires, tourmalines, morganite, kunzite, rhodochrosite, rhodonite and pink quartz. Our proposal for pink are these 2 earrings, very feminine, fresh and seductive: one mounting a pair of nude-pink flat sapphires and the other one a bunch of top-quality rose' quarzes. We love both of them very much for their colour, their being feminine, delicate and sensual at the same time Get yourself a pink cuddle, you deserve it!
Colourful, fresh, precious and glamorous: these the main features of our earrings “Amorim” ….which are lovely earrings indeed!!! They match the brightness of diamonds – in a warm champagne tone – with the deliciously fresh colours of “triplettes” made of blue sapphires, emeralds or paraiba tourmalines in combination with mother of pearl and rock crystal. We recommend to have one pair of these earrings in the bag when leaving for summer holidays. They will just make of your outfit an unforgettable one! Our earrings “Amorim” can be realized in pink/white/yellow gold according to taste and they exist in a variety of different colours: the ocean-blue of blue sapphire, the leafy-green of emerald, the incredible hues of paraiba tourmaline and, last but not least, the elegant and sophisticated off-white of fossil coral. So which is your favourite one?
